Silversea Procliamed Best Luxury Cruiseliner by Cruceros&Destinos Readers

Management officials from all cruiselines and representatives from the world's principal cruiseship destinations convened, last week, on the Tourism Show, to receive the awards that the magazine Cruceros&Destinos (Cruiseships & Destinations) had organised for the third year running. An initial vote among the magazine's editorial staff and a select group of specialised travel agencies decided the three nominations for each of the 18 categories upon which readers subsequently voted. What's more, the editor added a special prize, while travel agencies included another. Readers voted via mail or Internet. The latter option was restricted to subscribers to thus ensure the quality over the quantity of received results.
The award for Best Luxury Company was taken home by Silversea, while Pullmantur received the nod as Best National Company. Among cruiseship companies, the chief victor was Royal Caribbean, which received 5 awards, while its sister company Premium Celebrity Cruises took home one. The company Costa Cruises was awarded two trophies in the Best Family Programming and Best Corporate Social Responsibility categories, while the awards for best small ship, medium ship and best on-board service went to the luxury companies Seabourn, Crystal Cruises and Cunard.
Cruceros&Destinos readers deemed Barcelona's Paracruceros cruise terminal the best terminal, and Politours the best fluvial cruiseline.
