10 years of Japanese cuisine at Shibui
Tenth Anniversary
One of the best Japanese cuisine restaurants in the city has completed ten years. Located in the Eixample, Shibui Barcelona at this time has managed to bring most demanding gourmets the delicate flavors of the country. In Its creators have thought that the best way to celebrate was opening a little brother, the Shibui Bilbo (that is, of course, energetic city in the Bay of Biscay).
More than just sushi
Among the guests at this Japanese restaurant is easy to see familiar faces, artists, professionals, elite athletes... ultimately, an audience restless and fond of Japanese cuisine by renowned chef flagship Kazutoshi Komuter. The Japanese master is split into two cuisines, but has close collaboration with Alvaro Bilbao Colman in the kitchen.
The Shibui has positioned itself as a benchmark of good food, thanks to creations as suggestive as the monkfish liver; squid and cucumber vinaigrette; shrimp and vegetables batter of rice; noodles with grilled spicy cabbage or cones rice and seaweed, among other delicacies, besides the typical (but in this case, also outstanding) sushi, and tempura uramakis. However, in the Basque restaurant, have gone a step further and setting steaks can also enjoy the land, sea bream and other fresh fish ... yes: Nippon seasoned with a touch. Interestingly, both have a letter for coeliacs, something many people intolerant to gluten grateful.
Minimalist decor
The first project Shibui was born among the hands and the ideas of Jordi Majesty, who decided to realize his dream: a place where you could enjoy the best Japanese food (dishes from the traditional to the most advanced proposals) in a style married with the spirit of Barcelona. In this way the interior fits the essence of Japanese culture to an environment that avoids the clichés of the East. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan Barcelona Shibui, although the use of certain materials or recreation of the Japanese garden plant the mat brings to mind the country of the Rising Sun.
Barcelona restaurant offers two floors (the top with space for 60 people and a sushi bar and the bottom with a similar capacity in addition to the sophisticated reserved mats), while at the newly opened Shibui, the space consists of 600 square meters, reserved area ... and a large terrace that will open next spring). Both establishments have been decorated by the interior designer Susan Waller.
