During the last session of UNESCO held in St. Petersburg, the World Heritage Committee has decided to include the capital of Morocco in the World Heritage List by UNESCO cultural rights. The story is well worth a trip to Rabat, to know the treasures this beautiful city.
Morocco already has nine places declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO as the medinas of Marrakech, Essaouira Fez and Tetouan, the Kasbah of Ait-Ben-Haddou, the historic city of Meknes, Volubilis archeological ruins, the city of Mazagan Portuguese origin and now, Rabat.
The archaeological site of Chellah, the Kasbah of Oudayas, the walls, the walls and doors Almohades, Hassan Mosque, the Medina, the new town and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V have been recognized as important legacies of the city of Rabat advocating for their protection and conservation.
The city has also become more accessible to foreign visitors: the opening of a new terminal of the airport in January 2012 to be hosted annually to 1.5 million passengers. Rabat also receives numerous companies with flights from major European cities.
