Celebrities at Maison Louis Vuitton in Shanghai

Laetitia Casta, Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne, and Gong Li, among many other well-known guests, highlighted the grand opening of the first Maison Louis Vuitton in China, Maison Louis Vuitton Shanghai Plaza 66.

Each Louis Vuitton Maison is an international celebration of the style and elegance of Louis Vuitton—bringing together, under one roof, all its expertise. Originally perceived as a travel destination, this new four-story Maison designed by architect Peter Marino, aims to combine new design elements with custom made furniture, creating a unique and innovative experience filled with the thrilling surprises of Louis Vuitton. In order to reflect the vitality and dynamism of the city of Shanghai, Peter Marino utilized a wide selection of colors and materials, expressing both the spirit of Louis Vuitton and the vibrant life of this city.

The facade of the new Maison, designed by the architectural department of Louis Vuitton, overlooking Nanjing Road, is located in an area famous for its Deco style buildings of the 30’s. Located at the entrance to Plaza 66 shopping center, the impressive front is an interpretation of the wooden screens used to filter the light in traditional Chinese gardens, and also uses metal and glass to create a mesh of interwoven white flowers, reminiscent of the famous Monogram of Louis Vuitton. The bright light fills the front and extends to the top of the building, creating a vertical garden alongside the first three doors.
