Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona inaugurates its “Jardín Mimosa”, an oasis on Paseo de Gràcia

Living 16/04/2010

The hotel Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is celebrating the arrival of spring with the opening of its Jardin Mimosa, a lively, open-air terrace where visitors can enjoy a healthy meal outside, enjoy a fruit cocktail or relax alongside with a refreshing iced tea. With a splendid location on Paseo de Gràcia, Mimosa is one of the city's most unique sites, which combines all the requisites needed to become the perfect "urban oasis": sun, nature, privacy and a healthy and varied culinary selection.

The landscaper Bet Figueras, co-designer of Barcelona's Botanical Gardens, and designer Patricia Urquiola have turned one of the typical inner patios from Barcelona's Eixample neighbourhood into a green space, giving guests the chance to enjoy the fantastic local climate with the intimacy of a private garden. Spanning some 660 m2, Mimosa is an artistic and cosy spot.

The key behind this naturalness lies in the selection of plants, among them the mimosa, which lends its name and colour to the terrace. Other autochthonous plants and trees also fill the space, including cypress trees, olive trees and oleanders. Every bit an oasis right in the heart of Paseo de Gràcia.

Jardin Mimosa opened its doors on April 23, just in time for Sant Jordi, and will remain open until mid-October, from 1pm to 9 pm.
