Nederlands Dans Theater celebrates its 50th anniversary in Madrid

To mark the 50th anniversary of its establishment, the company Nederlands Dans Theater will perform from next June the 22nd, 2010 in the Main Hall of Teatro Real in Madrid where they will present new choreography to the music of Stravinsky, Schubert, Michael de Roo, Arvo Pärt, Anton Webern, Steve Reich and Charles Ives.

Nederlands Dans Theater, is considered as one of the largest  in the world and one of the references in contemporary dance in Europe, dance pieces "Symphony of Psalms", "Subject to Change" and "Whereabouts unknown", which are choreographed by the Czech cexeptional choreographer Jiri Kylian, who left the address in 1999 - and current resident choreographers English Paul Lightfoot and Spanish Sole Lion and divided into three acts. Makers will interpret the two groups that form the company. On the one hand, the Nederlands Dans Theater I, founded in 1959 - consisting of thirty dancers with ages ranging from twenty two to forty two years and on the other, the Nederlands Dans Theater II, founded in 1978 - consisting of sixteen emerging young talent under the age twenty-three.

The "Symphony of Psalms," released in 1978 - is a piece danced by eight women and eight men with surprisingly incredible changes and the continued stay of the dancers on stage. Will be performed by the Nederlands Dans Theater I, choreographed by Jiri Kylian and music by the composer Igor Stravinsky.

"Subject to Change", released in 2003 - is a piece that stems from a duet formed by a man and a frail woman to a group of six dancers who shines with the beauty of a dance and the emotions it evokes. Will be performed by the Nederlands Dans Theater II, choreographed by Paul Lightfoot and Sol León and music by the composer Franz Schubert.

"Whereabouts unknown", released in 1993- is a piece that takes us back to the whereabouts of our existence, from the Australian Aboriginal dances to the rhythms, rituals and African masks. Will be performed by the Nederlands Dans Theater I and II, choreographed by Jiri Kylian and music by the composers Michael de Roo, Arvo Pärt, Anton Webern, Steve Reich and Charles Iver.

In addition to these great performances, the company complemented them with the organization of activities outside the scene that allow viewers to learn more about the Nederlands Dans Theater.

Nederlands Dans Theater with its functions until the next scheduled June the 26th, 2010, will close the dance season of Teatro Real in Madrid dedicated to this area.

Apolo Theatre has, since last June 10, 2010, the play written by Belgian filmmaker and writer Phillippe Blasand "A relationship pornographic," a story whose central axis sexual desire, under the direction of Spanish Manuel Gil Gonzalez and translated by Jose Ramon Fernandez.

Spanish director Fernando Bernués is in charge of directing Eduardo Mendoza's theatrical adaptation of Hungarian writer Sándor Márai's The Fair Woman, a dramatic and exhaustive social radiography on the history of the 1940s.
