dEmo Fills Suárez Jewellers with Hearts

The artist dEmo will line the Suárez jewellers' shop windows with the universal symbol of love: hearts made from glass fibre and resin, a personal homage to the vermilion icon in lieu of Valentine's Day. The décor will be on display from February 4 to 14.

The 120 diminuitive, bright red hearts, created expressly for this particular jewellery workshop, will shine brightly in the shop windows of Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid and Marbella, sustained over methacrylate blocks. And there you have it, dEmo has once again brought his art into the street and to the people.

The Toledo-born artist rescues objects, quotidian images, and dotes them with colour, schematic shapes and new dimensions which, together with a poppy, expressionist language, churns out shapes that churn up a mash of strangeness, fun and curiosity in the onlooker.

dEmo aims to bring his entire universe into the streets, within the grasp of everyone. He has gone on to explain that "he tries to seduce the audience with humour, without failing to recognise that the sculpture is not an object, but a question mark and a motor for thought".

Colour, bears, robots, humour, decontextualisation, owls, meninas and new dimensions made him, among others, the worthy recipient of the Elio Berhanyer award for Best Image. His collection of works is sprawled out across Spain and through Europe, like those typifying bears in La Biennale in Venice and the IFEMA in Madrid, the IVAM owls, the enormous rubber ducks in La Cibeles during Madrid's Noche en Blanco art festival or the meninas in the Cuenca Town Council.

For 10 days, art, love and colour will get comfy beside exquisite jewels; jewels just waiting to be given away on this the day of Cupid, the day of the heart and love.
