"Haute Bijouterie", the First Collection of Fine Jewelry by Hermès

Jewelry 09/04/2010

Hermès, the prestigious French fashion house, has taken another step down the professional path and designed its first jewelry collection under the name "Haute Bijouterie", with which Hermès has seized the opportunity to break into the world of fine jewelry.

"Haute Bijouterie", created by famous French accessory designer Pierre Hardy, is an exclusive, 14-piece jewelry collection formed from precious metals and stones and includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. It offers a contemporary and current vision of jewelry, lending the firm's equestrian roots centre stage.

The most spectacular pieces from this splendid collection include the whip-shaped Fouet diamond necklace, which features 3,669 diamonds totalling some 36.16 carats, and the Centuare line, a necklace, ring, earring and bracelet set inspired by horses' hooves.

The jewelry, which will come packaged in a black, customized and hand-made crocodile leather case, will have a price-tag that is between €17,500 and €650,000, depending on the jewel.

During the presentation of "Haute Bijouterie", Laurence Reulet, the firm's general director of jewellery, commented that "Hermès will be taking orders for the collection on a world tour that will stop in Tokyo in September, Hong Kong in October and finally Berlin in November". Clients will have to wait between 5 and 7 months to receive their orders while the jewelry can be adapted to suit individual tastes.

Depending on how the orders for this collection go, Hermès will decide whether or not to design future fine jewellery collections.
