Urban foodies, very fashionable young, curious travelers ... the fauna that inhabits the renovated Café Kafka are what we call just plain beautiful people. Karel Schröder, the new owner knows how to lead a restoration project: the best ingredients in the dish, creative fashion in the environment, selected wines and liquors at the tables or bar glasses, a magical lighting and volume of music that allows you to talk intimately. All this has been synthesized in this area at the edge of the Mercado del Born, but before he had acquired proven experience in the Adriatic terrace in Barcelona and Ibiza Marina beach.

Culinary delights are due to the good work of the very young chef Fernando Poveda, who at only 24 years is an excellent professional career styling since it went number one in his class from school Hoffman. So the new Café Kafka can taste excellent beef tartare and fish (which are bite knife and authentic delicacies) simple but delicious dishes like eggs with Iberian chips artichoke hearts fried rolled with mustard (sumblimes!) fresh pasta al dente, or upscale as whims of Iranian Beluga caviar "000" or the imperial Russian Chatka crab.

The new restaurant also has managed to make a place like bar. Thus, management has decided to extend the closing time (which is Tuesday and Wednesday at 23.30 pm) until 2 am on weekends. Great malts, aromatic gin and aged cognacs are guilty of the night hit the bar.

The decor is worth a special mention to highlight the work of Helena Jaume Vilalta and Yolanda. Both have combined recycling and respect for local details, giving an interesting twist with it's warm, personal and with a great sense of humor. We liked the display of colored lights on the bar stools and rattan front of her.

The restaurant Café Kafka is the penultimate surprise to discover in a Mediterranean Barcelona, ​​modern and cosmopolitan.
