Exhibition 12/03/2010
The Fundació Antoni Tàpies, on the occasion of the reopening exhibition includes the "Antoni Tàpies. Els llocs de l'art" (art sites), focusing on the figure of the painter, sculptor and art theorist Spanish Antoni Tàpies.
The exhibition focuses on works by Tàpies in the last 20 years which includes works of earlier periods, especially the mid-40s, overflowing a theme or chronology to cover specific disciplines, ages and geographies, whose pieces are displayed different places around the building of the Foundation.
Besides this, the exhibition willthe viewing of a fragment of what Tàpies himself called his "manifesto" and "museum", a selection of works from his private collection that includes ancient Egyptian art to modern Western art. Which displays pieces, ritual objects or scientists with a number of works never before brought together in one room.
In addition to this collection, the Foundation offers several activities that help to discover some of the creative ways that have accompanied the evolution of aesthetics and ethics of Antoni Tàpies. One of these proposals is the screening of films by Georges Méliès, one of the first filmmakers in history and a great protagonist of the film library of Tàpies.
The Fundació Antoni Tàpies closed its doors in 2008 to adapt the building to the new rules for the disposal of the fire and make it accessible to the disabled. Now, two years later, reopened its doors to premiere his new stage with the exhibition "Antoni Tàpies. Els llocs de l'art." This refurbishment has meant that the building represents what is this city, as it mixes modernist aesthetics with the industrial past.
The exhibition will be open until May 2, 2010.
